Electricity Buy Back
The Solar Feed-In Tariff for Victorians
In Victoria, households operating small-scale renewable energy systems, such as solar panels, can receive an offset on their energy costs for electricity they help generate. In laymen's terms, if you generate more energy than you use, you get a rebate (solar feed in tariff).
How Does the Electricity Buy Back Work?
For these households, any excess electricity generated is fed back into the national power grid for other Australian households to use. The household is then reimbursed for supplying this renewable energy and this offset appears on their energy invoice.

What this means for Lumo Energy
Currently, Lumo Energy offers customers a minimum 1:1 offset for any electricity produced by solar photovoltaic systems. This means that any electricity generated and returned to the national power grid will be offset on a customer's energy invoice, kilowatt for kilowatt, at the customer's agreed energy rates.
A solar feed-in tariff is the offset issued to customers for contributing electricity to the national grid in this way.
