1. Generation
Electricity generators produce electricity and compete to sell what they produce via the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) that covers Victoria, New South Wales, the ACT, Queensland and South Australia. The electricity that is generated is injected into Victoria's electricity transmission system.2. Transmission
The electricity transmission network is a separate network that transports electricity from the electricity generators to the major distribution points in Victoria over major electricity transmission lines.3. Distribution
Your local Electricity Distributor owns and manages the power lines that deliver electricity to your home or business. Your current distributor will continue to be responsible for the quality and reliability of your electricity supply. If you experience a fault or emergency, your local distributor is responsible for fixing it. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Just as they do now. Your local distributor is also responsible for reading your electricity meter. In the case of electricity, your meter is usually read every 3 months.This means that the quality and reliability of your electricity supply does not change, irrespective of which company sends you a bill for your energy usage.
4. Retail - Lumo Energy
We buy electricity from the generators and send it to you through the existing electricity connections to your home or business. We pay the local distributor for the use of their power lines and meters to transport our electricity to you. We send you one convenient easy to read bill every month for the electricity and gas that you use.-
