how were the electricity consumption comparisons worked out?
The information is provided to us by the Australian Energy Regulator from benchmarks developed by the consultancy firm ACIL Tasman taking into account the following factors:1. Household size
2. Appliances
a. The presence of electric water heating
b. The presence of an electric cooktop
c. The presence of electric space heating
d. Air conditioning (summer)
e. Electric central heading (autumn, winter and spring).
3. Seasonal variation
Note: The benchmark provided by ACIL Tasman assumes that the customer does not have a swimming pool, as only a small number of households have swimming pools and swimming pools greatly increase electricity use.
