Great news! Lumo Energy is officially certified by Climate Active.
We’ve made changes in how we operate to achieve this milestone.
Lumo Energy has reduced carbon emissions by embracing new technologies and adjusting our work approach. Here’s how:
Even though some emissions are unavoidable for now, we’ve got it covered. We’ve purchased Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) to help offset them.* We’ve even factored in staff commuting and working from home. We proudly support the Climate Active organisation trademark because we’re all about supporting climate action. We believe it’s crucial for Australian companies like us to take responsibility for our environmental impact, and we want everyone to know about it. Lumo Energy is Climate Active certified for our business operations, but keep in mind, this does not extend to your energy supply.
*Whilst carbon offsets such as ACCUs may help offset greenhouse gas emissions, they do not prevent emissions that are released from burning fossil fuels. Even with carbon offsetting, the emissions released from burning fossil fuels for a customer’s energy use still contribute to climate change.
Climate Active is an ongoing partnership between the Australian Government and Australian businesses to drive voluntary climate action. Climate Active is the only government-backed carbon certification scheme in Australia. The brand represents Australia’s collective effort to measure, reduce and offset carbon emissions to lessen our negative impact on the environment.
Lumo Energy's Offset Gas is an opt-in natural gas product certified by Climate Active, and is charged as an additional rate to your standard gas usage charges. If you opt-in to our Offset Gas product, Lumo Energy will purchase Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) to help offset the carbon emissions associated with your natural gas usage*. This does not extend to other services associated with your account, including those from third parties. To view our charges and find out more about our opt-in Offset Gas product, click here.
