Are you building a new home? Perhaps you’re a builder who wants to arrange an electricity meter installation. Either way, we are here to help you get a meter installed, relocated or removed.

New meter installations

Victoria

  • Contact an electrician
  • The electrician will need to email an Electrical Work Request (EWR) and a Certificate of Electrical Safety (CES) to [email protected]
  • We will get in contact with you within 48 business hours of receiving the request.

South Australia

  • Contact an electrician
  • The electrician will submit an online request to the South Australian Power Network (SAPN) and will need to select Lumo Energy as your retailer.
  • SAPN will notify us of your request for a new meter installation.
  • We will get in contact with you within 48 business hours.

Time frames for new meter installations

When we contact you, we will arrange an account for the address of the new meter.

In Victoria, new meter installations can take up 25 business days.

In South Australia, where we have not been able to agree on a date with you, the new meter installation, will occur 6 business days from the date we are advised that the connection service (electricity supply) is in place.

These time frames do not apply where we do not have an agreement with you to install the meter, the site is not safe, accessible or ready for the meter installation, or installing the meter requires an interruption to another customer's supply.

Altering an existing meter

Sometimes meters need to be altered or exchanged if you’ve made changes to your home. For example, if you’ve installed a pool, renovated your property, or added solar power you might need to upgrade or relocate your meter.

If you need a meter alteration, you’ll still need to start by contacting an electrician.

After we receive your consent to alter your electricity meter, it can take up to 15 business days to complete your request. This is dependent upon having an agreement with you to install the meter, the site being safe, accessible or ready for the meter installation, or installing the meter does not require an interruption to another customer's supply.
