What is a Solar Feed-in Tariff (FiT)?

A Feed-In Tariff (FiT) is your reward for generating excess electricity with your solar panel system and feeding it back into the grid. Lumo Energy offers competitive FiT rates to eligible customers, providing a credit for each kilowatt-hour (kWh) of surplus energy exported.

Solar Feed-in Tariff (FiT) Eligibility

If you are a solar customer and have signed up to one of our residential or business plans, then to be eligible to receive your FiT for excess electricity exported to the grid:

We have received confirmation from your electricity distributor that your solar panel system has been connected to the distribution system.

Our current solar Feed-in Tariff (FiT)

South Australia		All Market Offers: 4.5 cents/kWh
		Standing Offer: 3 cents/kWh

Victoria		Market Offers:
		Lumo Plus: 4.5 cents/kWh
		Victorian Default Offer: 3.3 cents/kWh

Solar FiT includes GST (where applicable). If you receive a Government FiT, any additional FiT offered by Lumo may vary from those specified above, see ‘Government rebates and schemes’ below or contact us for details.

Changes to solar Feed-in Tariff (FiT)

Our solar FiT is subject to change. We will send you a written notice of any rate change before it affects you.

There are a number of factors taken into consideration for the change to your solar FiT including actual and projected wholesale costs. We may also change your solar FiT to align with the recommended benchmark and minimum FiTs set by independent bodies and Government regulators.

Government rebates and schemes

There are a number of past solar schemes which offer eligible customers a higher solar buy back rate. These schemes often operate in addition to the ‘retailer’ FiT offered by Lumo and contain strict eligibility criteria set by the relevant state government. If you have a FiT with your existing retailer that we are required to carry-over we will do so.
